Why switch
What changes for data protection.
Sending files to clients means passing on data: addresses, names, often photos of people. Here only the parties that are needed ever see it.
A DPA on every plan
The data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR is public and applies from day one, with the technical and organisational measures and every subprocessor.
Files in Switzerland
Files are stored encrypted with Exoscale in Zurich. The European Commission recognises Switzerland as having adequate data protection, so you need no further safeguards. The app runs in the EU, in Frankfurt.
No ads, no tracking
No ads, no analytics tools, no advertising partners. The download page sets only technically necessary cookies, so your clients see no cookie banner.
Deletion on expiry
Once a transfer expires, we delete its files and previews within an hour. Nothing is kept around for recovery.

When WeTransfer fits better.
You need end-to-end encryption.
WeTransfer offers it on its Enterprise plan, transfer.studio not at all.
Accounts and files must stay in the EU.
With transfer.studio the files are in Switzerland, not in the EU.
Single files are larger than 100 GB.
WeTransfer Ultimate has no limit per transfer.
You only send personal files.
